The three most interesting things that I found were one, that different types of hives can be designed more economically for the use of people in third world countries, and that some can be made without power tools. I also thought it was interesting that the Top Bar hive used in the video needs less smoking to calm the bees. The third thing I found most interesting was actually seeing the different shapes and arrangement of combs made in each shelf and how they are all very different.
Next time I am in the apiary I will try and look for the different shapes of the combs.
A question I have is why there are more bees covering the shelves that carry more completed combs, and why wouldn't there be more bees working in the incomplete combs?
